QA Automation Engineer
Serbia/North Macedonia (Hybrid)
We are looking for a QA Automation Engineer to join our product team and play a key role in building, maintaining, and continuously improving our automated testing processes. In this role, you will work closely with developers and other members of the product team to identify test scenarios, develop and maintain automated tests, and help drive the transition from manual to automated testing.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern automation frameworks such as Cypress or Playwright, along with a solid understanding of API testing, SQL, CI/CD, and Agile development practices.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the development team to understand project requirements and identify test scenarios suitable for automation.
- Support the transition from manual to automated testing by providing guidance and training on automation frameworks, creating test documentation, and offering ongoing support to the team.
- Analyze test requirements, document them clearly, and create automated test scripts and test cases using appropriate testing frameworks.
- Identify opportunities to improve testing processes through gap analysis, propose enhancements, and implement automation strategies to increase test coverage and efficiency.
- Manage testing expectations and ensure clear communication of test results, issues, and progress throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in Sprint Refinement sessions to ensure test cases and automation efforts are aligned with development priorities.
- Work closely with the development team to validate that automated tests adequately cover the functional and non-functional requirements of the software solution.
- Maintain and continuously improve automated test suites to ensure they remain reliable, relevant, and effective as the product evolves.
Requirements:
- Prior experience working as an Automation QA Engineer or in a related role.
- 3+ years of experience in test automation, with hands-on experience using Cypress and/or Playwright, JavaScript/TypeScript, and benchmarking.
- Experience with project management and continuous integration tools, preferably Azure DevOps.
- Experience with test management tools, such as Testiny or similar platforms.
- Experience with API test automation using tools such as Postman, SoapUI, ReadyAPI, Karate, REST Assured, or similar.
- Strong programming skills, primarily in JavaScript and TypeScript.
- Proficiency in BDD and the Page Object Model.
- Proficiency in SQL, including inserts, updates, joins, and similar operations.
- Familiarity with Agile frameworks, such as Scrum or Kanban, and experience working in an Agile development environment.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and identify effective solutions.
- Prior experience working as an individual QA Automation Engineer embedded within a product team.
